The section-by-section editor works on Word (.docx) files. It edits your own document, so the finished file looks exactly like your original — same fonts, colors, bullets, numbering, indents and bold text — with better wording.
- Upload a .docx resume on the Resume Tool and click Edit Section-by-Section.
- Open a section (such as Experience) to see each line.
- Click Get AI Suggestions for All Lines to see a suggested rewrite for every line (1 credit). Accept the ones you like, or edit any line yourself.
- In a hurry? Auto-Improve & Generate Document applies all suggestions at once.
- Click Generate Document from Current Text to create your finished Word file. It's saved to My Resumes.
Tips
- Edit by hand as much as you like — typing your own changes is free.
- Have a PDF only? Open it in Word (or Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice), save it as .docx, then upload that.
Common questions
Why does the editor need a Word file?
A Word file can be edited line by line while keeping its formatting. PDFs can be checked and analyzed, but not edited in place.
I use a Mac without Word. What do I do?
Open your resume in Pages, Google Docs or LibreOffice and choose File → Export / Download as Word (.docx), then upload that file.
