Thank-you notes, follow-ups and salary negotiation

  1. Open Messages & Negotiation (account menu), or click one of the Write it with AI links on a job's Your application card in My Jobs.
  2. Choose the message: thank-you after an interview, follow up on an application, message a recruiter or hiring manager, ask for a referral, a LinkedIn connection note (kept under LinkedIn's 300-character limit), a reply after a rejection, or negotiate your offer.
  3. Pick the job from My Jobs (the contact and notes you saved on it are used), or type the job title.
  4. Add who it's to, email or LinkedIn, and anything it should know — what you talked about, how you know them. For negotiation, add the offer and what you'd like.
  5. Click Write my message (1 credit). Edit it on the page, then Copy or Open in my email app.

Salary negotiation

You get a warm, confident counter-offer email and the lines to say on the phone, built on your real strengths for the job. When we have it, the AI also sees what this job pays near you — shown on every job in My Jobs — so your number is grounded in the market.

Nothing is made up: if a detail is missing, you'll see a [bracket] to fill in before you send.

Common questions

When should I send a thank-you note?

Within 24 hours of the interview — the same day is best. Mention something specific you talked about.

How long should I wait to follow up on an application?

About a week after applying. My Jobs reminds you automatically on your follow-up day.

Where does the salary data come from?

From advertised salaries for similar job titles near the job's location (Adzuna). It's what the market advertises — not what this employer has offered.
